Love a Lemon

At some point in our lives we have had to make the choice of either love it or leave it.

I haven’t been very good at loving an uncomfortable situation.  It took years to even occur to me that I was trapped in my misery.  I had no idea that I had choices in my life.

Now I know that I can choose to find the gift in my problems.  I love my lemons.

At first I would choose to focus only on my problems.  That didn’t get me anywhere.  I would get caught up in my misery and spiral downward into a pit of despair.  My problem was still there, but now I felt worse.

Then I started reading books and going to seminars on taking back my power and shifting my focus.  I found that I feel so much better when I choose to acknowledge the problem and realize that it has come into my life for some purpose.  I spend a little time with the lemon and then I shift my focus.  What do I want the outcome to look like?  If the situation isn’t acceptable the way it is, what am I wanting it to be?  I spend time daydreaming and enjoy the new way I want things to go.  I get into the feelings of it.  I smile and feel the relief and pride knowing that I am taking care of myself.  Jane would be proud.

I’ve read somewhere (sorry, I’m not sure where) that happy, successful people focus 20% of their energy on the problem and 80% on the solution.  80%!

When I remember to follow this formula it works out well for me.  I feel better.  My troubles don’t weigh me down as much because I’m focused on a place outside of the doom and gloom.

I invite you to try shifting your focus on at least one of your problems.  You will be able to feel the difference.  Your problems will quickly turn into learning experiences from your past.  Enjoy!

Love your lemons!

The article title really drew me in! I thought you were going to have tips on lemon as a medicinal additive or something like that. But am I glad you got your hooks in me – what a great article!

To use a cooking analogy, it’s amazing how that little bit of tang or a little pinch of salt actually brings out the sweetness and flavor of a dish. Without the lemon or the salt, the dish can taste flat.

    I LOVE the banner!
